What a wonderful week we had to kick off June—with the Talent Show, Field Day, and of course our first-ever Ancient Civilizations Children’s Museum, which was a great success! I am so proud of the hard work our 6th graders put in to make all these fun events happen.
Apologies for the late memo this week. I had an unexpected injury over the weekend and am a bit slower than usual while I adjust. Thank you for understanding!
THINGS WE’RE DOING THIS WEEK:
-
Reading: Students are wrapping up our final project of the year: Animal Poems! They are writing either a narrative or lyric poem about an animal of their choice, using figurative language throughout, and creating a related artwork inspired by Native American art.
We also reviewed figurative language in class today to prepare for a short quiz on Thursday.
-
7th– Grade Math: Students are working on a data collection project for the next few days as an introduction to reading graphs and charts. Last week’s test was handed back today, and test corrections are due Thursday.
-
Religion:
Dear parents,
It has been an honor and a blessing to be a part of your child’s faith journey. What students don’t realize is that I grow in faith as well.
Sixth graders will learn of a contemporary prophet, Dorothy Day.
All service logs are due at the end of this week. Students will complete their reflection on Wednesday. They will turn in their religion books. All students who do not have a book to turn in will be charged to replace it. Thank you.
Peace be with you all,
Mrs. Reichlin
6th– Grade Science: Today, we began a brief look into weather and climate. We will have our final unit test on Monday, June 15. Study guides will go home tomorrow. Writing/Grammar: On Friday, we will be completing our Parts of Speech test! 8th-Grader Gifts: Sixth-graders have been working hard to create their gifts for the graduating 8th-graders. They were tasked to create a cinquain (5-line) poem and decorate a wooden frame. These projects are due Thursday and will be presented to the 8th graders on Friday.
For long-term planning, a calendar of all the traditional events for the 26-27 school year should have come home in brown envelopes. You can also view that calendar here.
Please note, we will do our best to honor these dates, but it is possible some dates may change, in which case ample notice will be given.
Additionally, here are some important 7th-grade dates to add to your calendars:
-
Overnight Backpacking Retreat, Sept 24 and 25, 2026
-
Great WA Road Trip, May 25 – 28, 2027
-
Drivers and Chaperones needed!
