Welcome to Week 36!
12.5 days of school left, but who’s counting?!
A tremendous Thank You to Mrs. Bond, Mr. Ericson, Dr. Golez, Ms. Youngquist, Grandpa Bancroft, and Mrs. Schaffner for driving and supporting our Road Trip. We had a wonderful adventure, and it is such a privilege to know and teach your children. We made some great core memories, and I am truly grateful for each and every family.

Green Slips
Green slips are coming home today. Be sure to check-in with your student, sign and return.
Reminder: Students with 3 or more missing assignments will have restrictions on field day play. Please help your students with incomplete or missing assignments.
Field Day
Per our tradition of the family style cook out on field day, 7th graders have been asked to donate family size bags of chips for the event. You may bring them to the office or classroom, now until June 5. 7th graders will also need to wear their TIE-DYED SHIRTS.
Passing of the Light Ceremony
Our annual Passing of the Light ceremony will be Friday, June 12 @ 10:30 in the Saint Joseph’s Center. Each grade presents gifts to the 8th graders and then the 8th graders pass a candle, “The Light of ICRS” to the new leaders of the school, the 7th graders.
Celebration of Excellence and Graduation

This Week in Seventh Grade
Reading – Last week, we began The Pearl by John Stienbeck. This will be a quick read over the next two weeks. Students will be expected to read at home a few nights.
7 Math – Students have homework today over independent and dependent probability events. We will start Bias and Unbiased sample sets tomorrow. Students will have IXL topics HH.1, HH.2, HH.3, HH.8, HH.9 and II.2, II.3, II.5, II.10, II.13, II.15, II.16 to 70% and a quiz on Friday.
Science – Today we began our investigation on Estuaries. Students will be working independently on poster projects.
WA State History –
Geography – All 50 states test on Wednesday. Students can practice here,

Social Studies – We will be discussing the details of WWII as well as begin our WORLD project.
Writing/Grammar – We are back in the swing of writing this week and finishing the year strong with our editorial assignment. We will be spending time in class working on each paragraph.
We are also taking time each day to review some of the major grammar units we have covered throughout the year. There will be an end-of-the-year test over all grammar units on June 10.

Religion – Dear Parents, The end is near. There are 5 more religion classes left this year. Students are working on a project that shows their understanding of the Paschal Mystery. They will complete that on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they will complete the chapter review. On Thursday, students will take the chapter 9 test.
Service Logs are due on Wednesday, June 10. There will be no time to accept late service logs. The Service Log is 25% of the religion grade. So turning it in on time is imperative! Students must have a parent signature to validate the service. Students will complete a service reflection on Wednesday, as well.

¡Bienvenidos a la Semana 36!
¡Quedan 12.5 días de clases, pero quién los está contando!
Un enorme agradecimiento a la Sra. Bond, el Sr. Ericson, la Dra. Golez, la Sra. Youngquist, el Abuelo Bancroft y la Sra. Schaffner por conducir y apoyar nuestro viaje por carretera. Tuvimos una aventura maravillosa, y es un verdadero privilegio conocer y enseñar a sus hijos. Creamos recuerdos inolvidables y estoy sinceramente agradecido por cada una de nuestras familias.

Boletas Verdes (Green Slips)
Las boletas verdes se enviarán a casa hoy. Asegúrense de revisarlas con su estudiante, firmarlas y devolverlas.
Recordatorio: Los estudiantes con 3 o más tareas faltantes tendrán restricciones para participar en las actividades del Día de Campo. Por favor, ayuden a sus estudiantes a completar y entregar las tareas incompletas o faltantes.
Día de Campo
Siguiendo nuestra tradición de la parrillada estilo familiar durante el Día de Campo, se les ha pedido a los estudiantes de 7.º grado que donen bolsas familiares de papas fritas (chips) para el evento. Pueden entregarlas en la oficina o en el salón de clases desde ahora hasta el 5 de junio.
Los estudiantes de 7.º grado también deberán usar sus camisetas teñidas (tie-dye).
Ceremonia del Paso de la Luz
Nuestra ceremonia anual del Paso de la Luz será el viernes 12 de junio a las 10:30 a. m. en el Centro San José.
Cada grado presenta regalos a los estudiantes de 8.º grado y luego los estudiantes de 8.º entregan una vela, “La Luz de ICRS”, a los nuevos líderes de la escuela: los estudiantes de 7.º grado.

Esta Semana en Séptimo Grado
Lectura
La semana pasada comenzamos La Perla, de John Steinbeck. Será una lectura breve durante las próximas dos semanas. Se espera que los estudiantes lean en casa algunas noches.
Matemáticas 7
Los estudiantes tienen tarea hoy sobre eventos de probabilidad independientes y dependientes. Mañana comenzaremos el tema de muestras sesgadas y no sesgadas.
Los estudiantes deberán completar los temas de IXL HH.1, HH.2, HH.3, HH.8, HH.9 y II.2, II.3, II.5, II.10, II.13, II.15, II.16 hasta alcanzar un 70% y tendrán una prueba el viernes.
Ciencias
Hoy comenzamos nuestra investigación sobre los estuarios. Los estudiantes trabajarán de manera independiente en proyectos de carteles.

Estaremos analizando los detalles de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y también comenzaremos nuestro proyecto sobre el Mundo.
Escritura y Gramática
Esta semana retomamos el ritmo de la escritura y terminaremos el año con fuerza mediante nuestra asignación editorial. Dedicaremos tiempo en clase a trabajar en cada párrafo.
También repasaremos diariamente algunas de las principales unidades gramaticales que hemos estudiado durante el año. Habrá un examen final de gramática sobre todas las unidades el 10 de junio.
Fechas de entrega esta semana:
- 2 de junio — Entrega del párrafo de apoyo escrito a mano.
- 4 de junio — Entrega del párrafo de contraargumento escrito a mano.

Religión
Estimados padres:
El final está cerca. Quedan solo 5 clases de religión este año.
Los estudiantes están trabajando en un proyecto que demuestra su comprensión del Misterio Pascual. Lo completarán el martes.
El miércoles completarán la revisión del capítulo y el jueves tomarán el examen del capítulo 9.
Los registros de servicio comunitario deben entregarse el miércoles 10 de junio. No habrá oportunidad de aceptar registros entregados tarde.
El registro de servicio representa el 25% de la calificación de Religión, por lo que entregarlo a tiempo es fundamental.
Los estudiantes deben contar con la firma de un padre o tutor para validar el servicio realizado. También completarán una reflexión sobre el servicio el miércoles.
