Fifth Grade Classroom

5^th Grade Family Letter- June 1, 2026

Hello 5th Grade Families,

Time is sure going by fast, and it doesn’t help much that I was out of commission due to my back last week! We have completed MAP testing, and results will be going home soon. I am so proud of all the hard work each kiddo has done over the entire year, and it shows!

Important dates: 

*Tuesday, June 2: 6^th grade Museum in library at 10:00AM

*Thursday, June 4: Talent Show at St. Joe’s at 12:30PM

       Boys and Girls Talk at 2:00PM

Mr. Bell and Father Tom lead the boys’ session in the 6^th grade classroom and Dr. Ramsbottom will lead the girls’ session in the science room

*Friday, June 5; Field Day 12:10PM (5^th grade is responsible for bringing hamburger buns (8) by Friday morning.

Sunday, June 7: High school grads will be honored at 9:30 Mass

Wednesday, June 10: High school grads will walk down the hall at 11:25 AM.

Homework this week: State story, IXL math facts, and complete any unfinished work from last week.

Week’s Learning Goals

• Reading: Complete Number the Stars by Lois Lowry working on reading and analyzing chapters continuing Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson. We will be comparing both historical fictions for similarities and differences.
• State Report/ Writing: Students are creating a story based from facts the students have researched on their chosen state.
• Math: Dividing Fractions
• Science: Ecosystems Unit
• Social Studies: The 13 colonies and the road to the Revolutionary War

Reminder if you have library or schoolbooks at home this would be a great time to return to school.

Carta para las Familias de 5.º Grado – 1 de junio de 2026

Estimadas familias de 5.º grado:

¡Hola, familias!

¡El tiempo realmente está pasando muy rápido, y no ayudó mucho que la semana pasada estuviera fuera de servicio debido a mi espalda! Hemos completado las pruebas MAP y los resultados se enviarán a casa pronto. Estoy muy orgullosa de todo el arduo trabajo que cada estudiante ha realizado durante todo el año, ¡y se nota!

Fechas importantes:

Martes, 2 de junio

• Museo de 6.º grado en la biblioteca a las 10:00 a. m.

Jueves, 4 de junio

• Show de Talentos en St. Joe’s a las 12:30 p. m.
• Charla para niños y niñas a las 2:00 p. m.

El Sr. Bell y el Padre Tom dirigirán la sesión para los niños en el salón de 6.º grado, y la Dra. Ramsbottom dirigirá la sesión para las niñas en el salón de ciencias.

Viernes, 5 de junio

• Día de Campo a las 12:10 p. m.

(La clase de 5.º grado es responsable de traer 8 paquetes de pan para hamburguesa antes de la mañana del viernes).

Domingo, 7 de junio

• Los graduados de preparatoria serán reconocidos durante la Misa de las 9:30 a. m.

Miércoles, 10 de junio

• Los graduados de preparatoria caminarán por los pasillos de la escuela a las 11:25 a. m.

Tarea de esta semana:

• Historia del estado
• Datos matemáticos en IXL
• Completar cualquier trabajo pendiente de la semana pasada

Objetivos de aprendizaje de la semana

• Lectura: Terminar Number the Stars de Lois Lowry mientras continuamos leyendo y analizando capítulos de Chains de Laurie Halse Anderson. Compararemos ambas novelas históricas para identificar similitudes y diferencias.

• Informe estatal / Escritura: Los estudiantes están creando una historia basada en los hechos que investigaron sobre el estado que eligieron.

• Matemáticas: División de fracciones.

• Ciencias: Unidad sobre ecosistemas.

• Estudios Sociales: Las 13 colonias y el camino hacia la Guerra de Independencia de los Estados Unidos.
