Welcome to Fourth Grade

November 14, 2018

November Blessings, Fourth Grade Families~

I hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy with this chilly weather! We have lots of coughing & sneezing in class so I am reminding kids to sneeze in their arm or shirt and to use tissue as well as hand sanitizer often! We’ve had a few kids missing school for colds, flu bugs, and temps. Everyone is back now, so we’ll do our best on this end to keep the germs at bay.

Please send your child with a warm coat and even hat, gloves, & scarf if needed for these cold outdoor recesses! If you need assistance with any of that gear, please let me or the office know & we’ll get you some warmth!

A huge thank you to our volunteers and donation corps who gave so much to make the Veteran’s Day Luncheon a huge success!!! Thank you for the food: Mary Ramsbottom, Kathy Natoli, Ms. Rodrigues, Mrs. Hinton, Mrs. Moa-Walsh, Mrs. Duffy, Caitlin Svendsen, Mrs. Red, our students for making the soup, and anyone I left out for your generosity! Thank you to our helpers: Mr. DeCosta, Caitlin Svendsen, Scott Gustafson, Mr. Cobena, and all the others that showed up to set up, serve, & clean! Thank you to the Koehlers for helping to organize volunteers and donations! We are so grateful to all of you for your support!!! Our kids got to eat with the Veterans after they were served. They also helped with clean up! It was a job well done! I apologize if I missed anyone’s name.

Today we sent 13 fourth graders to the Magazine awarded field trip! Great job on sales 4th graders & Annie Zavala for being the Top Seller!!!! Woo Hoo!

Tomorrow we will be making & baking Thanksgiving Bread! It will be a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! We have 2 parents coming to help make & 2 parents coming to help bake!! These loaves will go home with your child on Friday. You may eat it early or freeze it. Either way, I hope you can try out the recipe on your own for future use!

On Friday, we will have our Family Groups meet in the morning. Then the Family Groups will attend 10:30 Mass together. Remember that your wreaths may be picked up on Friday after 2:00 PM.

Our conferences are scheduled for next week. I am trying to get them all in on Monday. I hope that works for you. I also have a few scheduled the following week, before & after school. Please be sure to turn in your time request so we can meet! No school all of next week!

Our class will attend the 12:30 Mass on 11/30. It has been wonderful having the kids volunteer to be altar servers at these masses. I am so proud of them!!!

December 10th is our Salmon in the Classroom Lesson #1 with the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group. We will have a fieldtrip to a Salmon Hatchery on December 11th with the 6th graders. More info to come on that, but get your volunteer updates completed if you want to attend with us!

Our Christmas baking will be cookies on 12/19 from 12:30-3:00 PM. So far, Steve Nicol, will be assisting but others are welcome to sign up!

We can have our Christmas party on Thursday, 12/20 or Friday 12/21 which is an early release day. Please let me know which date you prefer.

Thank you so much for your support! I look forward to meeting with all of you next week or soon thereafter! God bless you all and have a beautiful Thanksgiving break!
